In an eye-opening series of experiments carried out from 1961 - 1963 scientist Stanley Milgram tested a "volunteer's" willingness to inflict pain on another "test subject" when encouraged to do so by an "authority figure" (the clinical researcher conducting the session). Milgram used paid actors to simulate the pain - the electric current used was minuscule. Good thing too, as he soon discovered that almost without exception the people administering the shocks would do so again and again when the researcher urged them too - despite the screams of agony and pleas for release coming from the people being shocked. Well... we kinda have a different twist on this exciting experiment. I think you'll find it shocking, too. Just remember it's all for science!
